Join the Centennial Celebration on May 7th!

As we approach the 100th anniversary of planetariums on May 7, 2025, our goal is to make this a truly worldwide celebration. Planetariums have inspired curiosity and discovery for a century, connecting people across cultures and continents through a shared love of the cosmos.

This milestone isn’t just about looking back-it’s about bringing communities together to celebrate the past, present, and future of planetariums. From local events to global collaborations, we invite everyone to take part, whether by hosting an event, submitting a short video greeting, or sharing the excitement in their own unique way.

MAY 7 CELEBRATION EVENT AGENDA:

The event kicks off at 18:00 UTC with an introduction video, followed by live contributions from planetariums on every continent and special greetings from space agencies and other organizations.

The entire presentation is designed in a 16:9 flat video format to ensure accessibility for all planetariums. It will be presented live on YouTube from 18:00 UTC to 19:00 UTC on May 7th.

Besides the YouTube livestream, we have prepared supplementary materials for all planetariums to use as Fulldome-format background images during the live hour, as well as materials to use after the live hour and on the following days. We’ve prepared a show script (including some assets) for live presentations, which you can find through this link. The full set of supplementary materials will be online one week ahead of the event; please check back at that time to download all materials!
